IEEE International Mediterranean Conference on Communications and Networking
5–8 September 2022 // Athens, Greece

Welcome from the General Chairs

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 2022 IEEE International Mediterranean Conference on Communications and Networking (IEEE MeditCom 2022), 5–8 September 2022, Athens, Greece. The conference venue is Electra Palace Hotel, which is located in the heart of Athens, just a few minutes away from the Acropolis. While the previous edition of this conference was hybrid, with only few attending in person due to the travel restrictions that were in place last year , IEEE MeditCom 2022 will be largely in presence with most participants traveling to Athens to attend the conference, meet their fellow colleagues, and enjoy this marvelous city.

The IEEE MeditCom 2022 program features 6 keynotes and 3 panels, in which industry leaders and prominent academics will give their vision on the future of wireless communications networks, 10 technical sessions presenting latest research results, and 1 demo session. Prior to the start of the main conference, from Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 September, the program will begin with 2 tutorials and 2 workshops on hot and emerging topics on Monday 5 September. In conjunction with the conference, on Monday 5 there will also be panels organized by the IEEE ComSoc Young Professionals (YP) and Women in Communications Engineering (WICE) Committees.

The Opening Plenary on Tuesday features two keynotes, one by Dr. Gunnar Peters, Senior Expert at Huawei, Sweden, and the other by Prof. Yonina Eldar from Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. Next, the plenary session on Wednesday features the keynotes of Prof. Marco Di Renzo, from L2S-CentraleSupelec and Paris-Saclay University, France, and Dr. Thierry Lestable, Executive Director of the Digital Science Research Center at the Technology Innovation Institute, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Finally, our keynote speakers on Thursday are Julien Colafrancesco, Director of Engineering at Qorvo, France, and Prof. George Alexandropoulos, from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. We are delighted to welcome these six keynote speakers, whose talks on very timely topics will add a special touch to the conference program.

Last but not least, it is a privilege to have Athens as the host city for IEEE MeditCom 2022. Athens is the cradle of modern civilization, and today’s Athens elegantly combines the wonders of its rich history with its elegant, friendly, and beautiful environment. Athens is the natural gateway for visitors to continental Greece as well as to the numerous Greek Islands, which attract tenths of millions of visitors each year, and early September is an ideal period to visit this city. We hope that you will make your plans to attend the conference and also to enjoy Athens and its environment!

We look forward to meeting you in Athens at IEEE MeditCom 2022.
